Action plan for saving a potentially historic site

Here is an action plan on how to save a potentially historic site from demolition or neglect. this plan shows a time line of when each action should be taken and what kinds of action should be taken.

When saving a site or building it's always best to have a definite plan of action and a time frame of measurable results of when each action will be taken and in the order of steps each action is taken.


Final goal reached by week 12

Building or site that is to be saved has been declared a historic landmark and is under protection with plans to be fixed up and restored

Create Relevant Content


Week 12 final outcome:

Preservation groups and developers and owners come up with agreement that the building or site will remain intact to be repurposed and restored for the new project



Last quarter goals met:

Week 11

Building is designated a historic landmark so that it is protected from demolition. Groups on both sides discuss how the site or building can be repurposed and restored.


Week 10

Television broadcast is made and shown on television and over the internet so that the general public becomes more involved in wanting to see the property fixed up


Week 9

Event is held at the site to be preserved inviting the public to come out and learn all bout its history and benefit to the community. This event brings the public's support and brings in the masses of the community.


Week 8

Negotiations are made with owners of the property. More discussion as to how the property or site can be repurposed and if owner or developer wants new construction discuss how saving the old structure will now interfere with the new project but can be fixed up and become incorporated as part of the new development.


Week 7

Meetings are held with elected officials, owners of the properties and discussions are held as to what plans are being made for the site and how it can be repurposed instead of being town down.


Halfway point goals met:

News media television and newspapers have broadcasted the story of the site with pictures and interviews of local people and has been shown to the general public so that the general public is aware and will take part in saving the site


Week 6

Press conference and press releases were sent out about saving the site making the news people aware and to make a story. A rally consisting of over 50 local people gather in front of site demonstrating the need to save the place and the benefit of having it saved and restored


Week 5

Press release written telling the story of the site to be saved and how saving it would be beneficial to the community. In the press release several points are made on how the building or site can be repurposed and given new life. Press release is sent out to newspapers and websites to be made public knowledge.



Week 4

People associated with site such as former employees, students or other affiliates have been contacted to give support and add their names to the petition. families and friends of deceased affiliates have been contacted and enrolled in giving their support in the cause.


Quarter point goals met:

A team of at least 4 people is actively involved in taking all actions mentioned. at least 6 people from different communities and groups have been enrolled and are supporting the cause. a petition has been made up and already has over 100 signatures.


Week 3

Each day take at least one type of action by contacting key people from groups on the list and enrolling then into helping you save the site and what support they can give. Also create a petition online using site Change.org to create and send out to groups on facebook, twitter, linkedin, and others


Week 2

Make a list of people in the community who can advocate in saving the building or site, church groups, civic leaders and any groups shown in the above list should be considered.


Weeek 1

Building is declared endangered and needs to be saved form a team of preservation people each with a role to take part in what action they are capable of
